KDDI announced on September 19 that its food delivery service menu, operated by subsidiary menu, will cease operations on September 30, after which the company will be dissolved and liquidated. The decision was made after considering the changing competitive landscape and future business prospects. The service, launched in 2019, faced intense competition from Uber Eats, Demae-can, and others. The move follows Wolt's exit from Japan in March after about six years.

KDDI announced on September 19 that its food delivery service "menu," operated by subsidiary menu, will end on September 30, after which the menu company will be dissolved and liquidated. The company said the decision was made after comprehensively considering changes in the competitive environment of the food delivery market and future business prospects.

The menu service began offering food delivery in 2019 and introduced a food delivery service in 2020. KDDI had previously collaborated with IT company Razorgroup to jointly drive the expansion of the menu business. On its official website, the menu company expressed gratitude to customers, partner stores, delivery personnel, and related parties who have supported the service over the years.

The domestic food delivery industry is highly competitive, with players including Uber Eats and Demae-can. In March, Wolt, which originated in Finland, announced its withdrawal from the Japanese market after approximately six years of operation.
