On the morning of August 5, the Jielong-3 carrier rocket successfully launched from the Oriental Aerospace Port in Haiyang, Shandong, placing the Dongfang Huiyan Hyperspectral 01/02 satellites into orbit. The satellites' solar wings carried space-grade ultra-thin flexible glass (UTG) supplied by Lens Technology for in-orbit verification. The material, derived from consumer electronics foldable-screen technology, maintains transmittance above 90% and shows enhanced resistance to atomic oxygen erosion and high-energy radiation, marking progress in domestic new materials for aerospace core components.

On the morning of August 5, the Jielong-3 (Yao-12) carrier rocket lifted off from the Oriental Aerospace Port in Haiyang, Shandong, successfully placing the Dongfang Huiyan Hyperspectral 01/02 satellites into their predetermined orbits. At the launch site, the Aerospace Port Group, the Aerospace Port Research Institute, Oriental Star Chain, and core enterprises in the related industrial chain jointly signed a four-party cooperation agreement to promote the co-development of the commercial aerospace ecosystem.

The satellites' solar wings carried space-grade UTG (ultra-thin flexible glass) for in-orbit verification, with the core encapsulation material supplied by Lens Technology. Lens Technology, previously a core developer and manufacturer of UTG for foldable-screen projects in the consumer electronics field, has accumulated technical capabilities in processes such as thinning glass to tens of microns and achieving extremely narrow bend radii. The space-grade UTG verified in this mission retains its ultra-thin bendable properties while undergoing process upgrades for the space environment, enhancing resistance to atomic oxygen erosion and high-energy radiation, with transmittance maintained above 90%. The material is suitable for the development needs of a new generation of rollable and foldable solar wings for satellites. This in-orbit verification marks progress in the domestic control of new materials for core aerospace components.
