Developed with the HKEX Foundation, the Hong Kong Council of Social Service and welfare agencies, the facilities provide community information, health activities and support services for residents, seniors and caregivers. The initiative addresses rising elderly care needs amid Hong Kong's ageing population, with plans to extend the programme to Lok Wah shopping mall by 2027.
Link Real Estate Investment Trust has officially launched the Ageing Well Information Station and the Ageing Well Activity Zone at its Shun Lee shopping mall, marking the trust's first intergenerational inclusion pilot. The facilities provide community information, health activities and support services for local residents, seniors and caregivers.
The project is delivered through collaboration among Link REIT, the HKEX Foundation, the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS) and social welfare organisations. Link REIT is responsible for facility planning and construction, the HKEX Foundation provides operating funding, and the HKCSS coordinates cross-sector collaboration. Community services and activities at the site are co-operated by the Christian Family Service Centre and the Hong Kong Christian Service.
The Ageing Well Information Station offers community information and support services to help residents access suitable community resources. The Ageing Well Activity Zone features physical exercise, cognitive training and interactive experience programmes serving seniors, caregivers and other community members, designed to foster interaction across age groups through shared space.
As Hong Kong's population ages, demand for elderly care and caregiver support continues to rise. Link REIT has introduced these services into estate shopping malls, serving not only seniors but also listing caregivers as a primary target group, offering community resources, service referrals and support networks. The initiative aims to bring information and services that were previously scattered across the community into residents' daily activity areas. Link REIT plans to extend the programme to Lok Wah shopping mall by 2027.
