Loongson's First General-Purpose GPU 9A1000 Taped Out, Targets AMD RX 550 Performance
Loongson Technology chairman Hu Weiwu confirmed the company's first general-purpose GPU, the 9A1000, has completed development and been delivered for tape-out. Positioned as an entry-level consumer discrete graphics card, it offers rendering performance comparable to AMD's RX 550, covering office work, light online gaming and basic graphic design, with AI computing power of tens of TOPS. A successor, the 9A2000, is planned for 2026-2027 with four times the graphics performance and eight times the AI inference capability. Separately, the Loongson 3B6600 processor, built on a domestically developed 1Xnm process, has also been taped out.
Loongson Technology chairman Hu Weiwu confirmed that the company's first general-purpose GPU chip, the 9A1000, has completed its full development process and been delivered for tape-out. Positioned as a consumer entry-level discrete graphics card, the chip offers graphics rendering performance comparable to AMD's RX 550, covering scenarios such as daily office work, light online gaming and basic graphic design, with AI computing power reaching tens of TOPS.
Loongson also unveiled its GPU product roadmap, with a next-generation GPU, the 9A2000, slated for development in 2026-2027. The 9A2000 will deliver four times the graphics performance and eight times the AI inference performance of the 9A1000, with the goal of matching the performance level of overseas mid-range discrete graphics cards available in the same period.
The Loongson 3B6600 processor has also been delivered for tape-out. Built on a domestically developed 1Xnm process, its measured overall performance reaches the level of mainstream X86 consumer CPUs on the market that use 7nm or more advanced processes, meeting the daily office and entertainment needs of most users.
