Meituan Gives Riders in Chongqing New Air-Conditioned Vests with Built-In Cooling System

Chinese food-delivery platform Meituan held the first handover of air-conditioned vests for riders in Shapingba District, Chongqing, on August 1. The vests feature a built-in circulating cooling system, replaceable power supply, and a three-zone ventilation system to prevent heatstroke and heat-related illness. Riders tried the vests on site and experienced the cooling effect. Chongqing is the first pilot city, and Meituan will later distribute the smart vests free to riders in key high-temperature regions across China.

Meituan, a Chinese food-delivery platform, is providing riders with air-conditioned vests equipped with a built-in circulating cooling system and ventilation system to help them stay cool and prevent heatstroke in summer. On August 1, the first handover event for Meituan rider air-conditioned vests, themed "Responses with Care, Cooling Delivered to the Frontline," was held in Shapingba District, Chongqing, where riders tried on the vests and experienced their cooling effect.

The new vests feature a built-in circulating cooling system and a sustainable power supply, providing body-cooling and heatstroke protection for riders. Once the built-in fans are switched on, a full-body circulating air channel forms inside the garment, quickly dispelling the feeling of stuffiness. The vest uses an upward airflow design: after circulating fully inside the garment, the air is expelled through the collar and cuffs, avoiding the direct blowing on the waist and abdomen found in traditional fan vests, which can cause joint injury. It also has a three-zone ventilation system covering the chest, armpits, and back, accelerating sweat evaporation and helping prevent heatstroke and heat-related illness. The vest is suitable for outdoor work in high summer temperatures.

Chongqing is one of the first pilot cities, and Meituan will subsequently distribute the smart air-conditioned vests free of charge to frontline riders in key high-temperature regions across China.
