Meituan released on August 13 its AI safety assistant Tuanbao for delivery riders and the company's first traffic safety map. The product was developed based on safety travel needs collected from multiple rider forums held in 2025, and provides riders with traffic light waiting prompts, accident-prone road alerts, smart speed reminders and wrong-way driving detection. The traffic safety map supports queries for "accident-prone sections," "non-motor vehicle prohibited sections" and "violation-prone sections." When riders pass through risky sections or exhibit risky behavior, the system proactively issues warnings urging safe driving.
Tuanbao also offers image navigation to help riders quickly locate storefronts, entrance positions and floor information, reducing time spent on final-stage searching. The assistant is available for immediate use after riders update the app, with noticeably faster response times than previous map-based Q&A functions.
In addition, the "waiting at lights stops the clock" feature went live in parts of Beijing on August 13. The feature is designed to ease riders' anxiety over potential delivery delays and reduce the risk of running red lights to save time. Riders can receive proactive deceleration prompts for sharp turns or dangerous intersections during delivery, and the relevant safety features now cover multiple delivery scenarios.
