Mews Founder Richard Valtr to Speak at 2027 EU-Startups Summit in Malta

Richard Valtr will attend the EU-Startups Summit, held in Malta on May 13-14, 2027, where he will take part in a fireside chat to share his experience of building and scaling a global technology company, from his early work in hotel development and operations.

Valtr studied at University College London before returning to the Czech Republic to work in real estate development, where he created the Emblem hotel in Prague. While running the hotel, he experienced the limitations of traditional software systems firsthand, leading him to found Mews in 2012. The company initially aimed to develop a better property management system, and later evolved into a comprehensive hotel operating system connecting operations, payments, revenue, and the guest journey.

Under Valtr's leadership, Mews expanded rapidly. In January 2026, the company completed a EUR 255 million Series D funding round, reaching a valuation of EUR 2.1 billion. As of February 2026, Mews reported serving approximately 15,000 hotel properties across 85 countries. Valtr remains actively involved in shaping Mews' long-term strategy and participates in discussions on technology, artificial intelligence, customer experience, and the future of the hospitality industry.
