Microsoft Demo Material Shows New Windows 11 Mouse Cursor Design

Microsoft has not officially announced plans to introduce a new mouse cursor design for Windows 11, but newly surfaced information shows that a modernized cursor clearly different from the current version has appeared in official Microsoft demonstration material. Since the 1990s, the classic white arrow cursor has maintained a highly consistent design style across Windows systems; Windows 11 has introduced rounded window corners, a new icon system, and a rebuilt user experience, yet the mouse pointer still retains many traditional design elements. At some point before September 11, 2026, Microsoft showed a new cursor noticeably different from the current version in an official demonstration. The surfaced images show that the new design has rounder overall lines, softer edge treatment, and a modernized style more in keeping with the Windows 11 visual language. Compared with the existing arrow, the new design plays down the sharp outlines left over from the traditional pixel era and is more coordinated with the system's new-generation icons and elements.

In the years before 2026, Microsoft gradually updated File Explorer, the notification center, the Start menu, system settings, the font system, and multiple system icons, while the mouse cursor remained relatively unchanged.
