Microsoft Renames Microsoft 365 Roadmap to AI at Work Roadmap, Expands Scope

Microsoft has recently renamed its product roadmap page from "Microsoft 365 Roadmap" to "AI at Work Roadmap." The change is now live on the official website; when users visit the original URL, both the page title and the sections have been updated. Microsoft confirmed this adjustment in a notification within the Microsoft 365 admin center, aiming to consolidate innovation plans for Microsoft 365, Copilot, AI agents, and related features into a single entry point.

The new roadmap covers Microsoft 365, Copilot, AI agents, and related AI capabilities, significantly broadening the scope compared to the previous roadmap, which primarily focused on applications such as Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Microsoft stated that this adjustment does not alter how users access the roadmap or their workflows, but it provides a unified platform for tracking the development and release progress of various AI-related innovations. At the same time, Microsoft has not enabled AI features by default for all users; basic subscription tiers remain unchanged, and users must purchase additional AI licenses to use features such as Copilot.

Microsoft plans to expand the roadmap information starting in September 2026, when roadmap content for Dynamics 365, Power Platform, and Dataverse will also be published under "AI at Work Roadmap." This will allow enterprise users to track innovations across business applications, productivity tools, and the AI product portfolio on a single page. This means the roadmap will no longer be limited to traditional Office applications but will incorporate development progress for a wider range of AI-driven solutions.
