Microsoft to Add 'Preview Anyway' Button for Windows 11 File Explorer to View Mark-of-the-Web Files
Microsoft plans to introduce a new 'Preview Anyway' button in Windows 11 File Explorer, restoring the ability to preview downloaded files that were previously disabled due to a security vulnerability. The button will appear directly in the security warning, letting users confirm a file is safe and view its contents in the preview pane without manually unlocking it. This replaces the previous workaround of right-clicking, accessing Properties, and checking the 'Unblock' option or using a PowerShell script.
Microsoft plans to introduce a new button named 'Preview Anyway' in Windows 11 File Explorer to restore the preview function for downloaded files. The feature had been disabled earlier due to a security vulnerability, so files with the mark of the web now have preview disabled by default.
The new button will be embedded directly in the security warning. After confirming that a file is reliable, users can click 'Preview Anyway' to view its contents in the preview pane without needing to manually unlock it. Previously, users had to right-click the file, open the Properties menu, and check the 'Unblock' option, or use a PowerShell script to restore preview functionality.
