Microsoft to End Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021 Support on Jan. 12, 2027

Microsoft has announced that Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021 will reach end of support on January 12, 2027. This version, based on Windows 10 21H2, is designed for application environments that require high system stability and receives only security and quality updates. Mainstream Windows 10 ended support in October 2025, but long-term servicing channel versions continue to receive updates. Microsoft has set the lifecycle of this version at five years. After support ends, devices running the system will no longer receive monthly security updates, vulnerability fixes, non-security improvements, or official technical support, although the operating system will continue to function.

Microsoft also announced its Extended Security Updates (ESU) program, which will be available for purchase through volume licensing channels starting September 1, 2026. The first-year ESU license is priced at $61 per device. Enterprises using cloud-based update management solutions such as Microsoft Intune or Windows Autopatch are eligible for a discount of approximately 25%, bringing the price to about $45 per device. Additionally, support periods differ among LTSC versions: Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021 will end support in 2027, while Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021, aimed at the Internet of Things, will continue to receive official support until January 2032.
