US Launches Preliminary Probe into Suspension Failures on Nearly 1.2 Million Tesla Vehicles
The US NHTSA has opened a preliminary investigation into nearly 1.2 million Tesla vehicles after 156 complaints of suspension failures, mainly affecting 2018-2020 Model 3 and 2021-2023 Model Y. Separately, China's CCC certification for EV charging equipment took effect on August 1. Geely Auto Group established a sales company to coordinate brand marketing. BYD sold 419,200 vehicles in July, with overseas sales surging 124.3% year-on-year.
The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that it has formally launched a preliminary investigation into nearly 1.2 million Tesla vehicles after receiving multiple complaints of suspension failures. The agency has accumulated 156 complaints related to Tesla suspension failures, mainly involving 2018 to 2020 Model 3 and 2021 to 2023 Model Y vehicles.
Starting August 1, the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) began mandatory enforcement of China Compulsory Certification (CCC) for electric vehicle (EV) power supply equipment. By conducting tests on key safety indicators such as electric shock protection, short-circuit protection, fire resistance, and heat resistance, as well as on-site checks of enterprise quality assurance capabilities and product consistency, the authorities aim to firmly secure the bottom line of product quality and safety. EV power supply equipment (commonly known as charging piles) that has not obtained CCC certification may not be shipped, sold, imported, or used in other business activities.
Geely Auto Group has established a sales company to further strengthen resource coordination among its brand marketing teams. This is the concrete implementation of the 'One Geely' strategy in the marketing system. The sales company sets up six first-level organizations under the group, including China Star, Galaxy, Lynk & Co, and Zeekr sales companies. Lin Jie serves as the general manager of Geely Auto Group Sales Company and concurrently as the general manager of Zeekr Sales Company; Fan Junyi serves as the executive deputy general manager of the sales company and concurrently as the general manager of Lynk & Co Sales Company, and also oversees Galaxy Sales Company; Wang Bo serves as the general manager of China Star Sales Company; Guan Jiuyang serves as the executive deputy general manager of Galaxy Sales Company.
BYD's total sales in July reached 419,200 units, of which passenger vehicle sales were 411,000 units. Overseas sales of passenger vehicles and pickups reached 179,800 units, up 124.3% year-on-year, setting a new record. In the first seven months of 2026, BYD accumulated sales of 2.2277 million units.
