Nvidia Launches DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction, Covering RTX 20 Series and Later, Early Access Ends in September
Nvidia introduced DLSS 4.5 ray reconstruction at Gamescom 2026, featuring a second-generation Transformer model available via early access on the NVIDIA App for all GeForce RTX 20 series and newer GPUs. During Gamescom 2026, Nvidia launched DLSS 4.5 ray reconstruction, built on a second-generation Transformer model, and made it available as an early access feature through the NVIDIA App. The technology supports all GeForce RTX 20 series and later RTX GPUs. It was previously unveiled at Computex 2026, targeting games that use ray tracing and path tracing, with an AI network trained on Nvidia supercomputers performing denoising and image reconstruction.
The new model integrates denoising and super resolution into a single framework, combining temporal and spatial data from the game engine for intelligent analysis to produce sharper, more stable, and more detailed high-resolution images. Compared with the previous generation denoiser, it delivers 35% higher compute performance and 20% more parameters, while maintaining similar overall performance. Thanks to smarter sampling and motion data handling, a larger training dataset, and more tuning options for developers, games using this technology achieve clearer ray-traced visuals, more accurate lighting, and more stable rendering.
Users need to install GeForce Game Ready Driver 580.88 WHQL or newer, then enable early access updates via the "About" section in the NVIDIA App's Settings page. After installation, players can directly enable the new ray reconstruction model for compatible games, either globally or per title. Nvidia plans to end the early access phase in September 2026, after which the feature will be rolled out to all users.
