East Buy, a Chinese e-commerce platform, detected a large number of abnormal refund-only orders during routine monitoring on August 13, suspecting fraudulent activity by organized scam rings. The company reported the case to police, who later took a suspect surnamed Zhang into criminal detention on fraud charges. East Buy pledged to strengthen its risk-control systems and intensify crackdowns on malicious refunds and professional claims.

East Buy's official account issued a statement on August 13, saying that during routine daily monitoring of order data, it discovered a large number of abnormal refund-only orders involving substantial amounts of money, with suspicions of "free-rider" style fraud by black-market and gray-industry operations. The company immediately secured evidence and reported the case to public security authorities, fully cooperating with the investigation and evidence collection. After meticulous police work, a criminal suspect surnamed Zhang was taken into criminal enforcement measures on suspicion of fraud, and the case is currently under further processing.

East Buy stated that it will continue to improve its risk-control system in the future and increase efforts to investigate and crack down on malicious refund compensation and professional claims activities.
