RansomHouse Posts Full Stolen Nichirei Data on Dark Web
Russian-linked hacker group RansomHouse has published data stolen from Japanese food company Nichirei Group on the dark web, including personal information of employees and business partners as well as business system account credentials, according to security sources who verified the posting on August 10. The data appears to represent nearly all of what was taken, though the group did not specify its size. Nichirei earlier suffered a cyberattack causing logistics disruptions that took about 10 days to resolve.
The Russian hacker group RansomHouse has made public on the dark web data it stole from Nichirei Group. Security sources confirmed on August 10 that the group, which had obtained the data through a cyberattack, posted it on a highly anonymous dark web site. The exposed information includes personal data of employees and business partners, as well as account credentials for the company's business systems. Nobuo Miwa, president of cybersecurity firm S&J, verified the posting that morning. While the dark web post did not specify the volume of data, it is believed to represent nearly all of the stolen information.
Nichirei Group announced on July 13 that it had suffered unauthorized access triggering system failures, causing logistics operations to stall before returning to normal operation approximately 10 days later. In response to the data leak, Nichirei Group said it is aware of the situation but declined to comment at this time.
