Samsung SDI and GM Sign Next-Gen EV Battery Deal; Samsung Acquires 49.99% of SynergyCells
Samsung SDI announced that it has signed a new agreement with General Motors to jointly develop next-generation electric vehicle batteries. In addition, Samsung SDI agreed to acquire the 49.99% stake held by General Motors in SynergyCells, their joint venture in Indiana, United States. Upon completion of the transaction, the plant will become Samsung SDI's first wholly-owned facility in North America. The plant is currently under construction.
