Simcere Founder Ren Jinsheng Reappointed CEO, Zhou Yunshu Becomes President; H1 Revenue Up 27.8% to RMB4.58

Simcere Pharma founder Ren Jinsheng has been reappointed chief executive officer, effective immediately, with Zhou Yunshu moving to president. The company posted first-half revenue of RMB4.58 billion, up 27.8% year on year. Net profit attributable to shareholders rose 37.9% to RMB830 million, while adjusted net profit increased 48.7% to RMB960 million. Innovative drug sales grew 34.1% to RMB3.89 billion, accounting for 84.9% of total revenue. Ren said Zhou will remain deeply involved in operations, ensuring management continuity.

Simcere Pharma announced on August 20 a change in its senior management. At the initiative of Zhou Yunshu and with board approval, founder Ren Jinsheng has been reappointed chief executive officer, effective immediately, while retaining his roles as chairman and executive director. Zhou Yunshu has relinquished the CEO post and will now serve as president.

Zhou Yunshu was born in October 1971. He previously served as chairman of Hengrui Medicine. From August 2022 to October 2025, he was a full-time advisor to Innovent Biologics, providing professional guidance on market strategy and commercialization. In March 2026, Simcere announced that Zhou had been appointed CEO, effective March 25, 2026, responsible for overseeing overall management of the group's business operations as a senior executive.

At the interim results briefing held on August 21, Ren Jinsheng commented on the management change, saying that since Zhou Yunshu joined Simcere, he has introduced many new ideas and methods in optimizing the product portfolio strategy, enhancing the quality of research and development project selection, improving innovative R&D efficiency, and accelerating market access and product commercialization. Zhou will continue to be deeply involved in the group's operational management, ensuring the stability and continuity of the executive team and corporate strategy.

Simcere also released its interim results for 2026. In the first half, the company achieved revenue of RMB4.58 billion, up 27.8% year on year; net profit attributable to equity shareholders was RMB830 million, up 37.9%; adjusted net profit attributable to shareholders was RMB960 million, up 48.7%.

Simcere has built a portfolio of 10 innovative drugs. In the first half, innovative drug sales reached RMB3.89 billion, up 34.1% year on year, accounting for 84.9% of total group revenue. The company said several follow-on innovative products are expected to launch between the second half of 2026 and 2028, with combined peak sales of approximately RMB15 billion.

Looking ahead over the next five to ten years, the company will place greater emphasis on overall value creation in international markets. It has established a clear innovation philosophy, aiming to precisely align China's domestic innovative R&D capabilities with clinical needs in European and American markets, driving a comprehensive upgrade of its strategy from a global perspective.
