Snap plans to launch consumer-facing Specs AR glasses in fall 2026 at USD 2,195. The product operates independently, without a phone, an external computing module, or an external battery. It runs for about four hours and features a thick black frame, with two lens sizes: 47mm and 52mm. A short trial did not cover a full battery cycle. In hands-on testing, the Specs weighed more than ordinary glasses, but did not fall off or slip noticeably during rapid head shaking.

Users can view the real environment through the lenses and see menus, app windows, and virtual objects within their field of view. The glasses use a waveguide display system capable of showing 16 million colors; the specific resolution has not been announced. After several people put on the device, they were able to operate virtual dominoes together on a real tabletop. The Specs support hand tracking, allowing users to adjust windows or move virtual objects through actions such as pinching and dragging, and to have windows follow head movement. In the experience, some operations had to be repeated multiple times, and a palm menu and two-handed coordinated actions did not trigger on the first attempt. In sunlight, the visibility of augmented reality images decreased.

The device uses dual-lens display to provide augmented reality effects, with a 51-degree field of view. In demonstrations, virtual content slid out of the visible area, and viewing a browser window required shrinking the image; when operating the dominoes, users had to turn their heads to switch their gaze between the hand of cards and the tabletop. The device supports photo and video capture, with a privacy indicator light in the center of the body. Sound from the built-in speakers was not easily heard by people nearby. Snap plans to bring the product to consumers in fall 2026.
