Sony Criticized for Promoting Vinyl Turntable While Ending PS Disc Production

The promotion drew criticism because Sony had previously announced that it would stop producing physical PlayStation game discs from January 2028. Users questioned Sony's logic in promoting one physical medium while discontinuing another.
The "#PSBlackout" boycott campaign, initiated by the game physical media advocacy group Does it play, is recruiting participants. It calls on players to stay away from PlayStation consoles and services from August 23 to 30, refraining from logging in, playing, or purchasing games. The move stems from Sony Interactive Entertainment's decision to abandon physical game discs in 2028.
