Sony to Offer 100+ Free Ad-Supported TV Channels on US PS5 From Aug 31

Sony will launch more than 100 free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) channels and on-demand content for PlayStation 5 users in the United States starting August 31, 2026. Available via the PS5 media tab, the lineup spans movies, TV series, anime, news, sports, and documentaries. Sony plans to expand the service to Canada and other regions in the future.

Sony has announced that PlayStation 5 users in the United States will gain access to free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) channels starting August 31, 2026. The PS5 media tab will feature more than 100 live channels from Sony Pictures Television, alongside on-demand content. The channel lineup covers categories including movies, TV series, anime, news, sports, and documentaries. Movie channels include MovieSphere from Lionsgate, 50 Cent Action, and Sony One Horror Hits, spanning action, sci-fi, and horror genres. On the TV series front, viewers can watch shows such as Community, The Walking Dead, Deal or No Deal, Fear Factor, and Ice Road Truckers. Anime offerings include Naruto, Sailor Moon, Hunter x Hunter, and Death Note. The platform will also feature channels dedicated to gaming, esports, podcasts, and comedy. Sony said the live TV service on PS5 will be updated continuously with new programming and additional channels over time. The company also plans to extend the service to Canada and other regions in the future. Separately, Sony recently informed European users that they would lose access to hundreds of movies purchased on the PlayStation Store due to expiring licensing agreements. Sony is also holding two State of Play events this week, showcasing some of the games currently in development.
