SpaceX Could Close $60 Billion Cursor Deal Next Week; $2.6 billion Revenue, Sand May Be Renamed Grok Bot

Published: Updated: By 24TopNews Editorial Desk

SpaceX is poised to complete its $60 billion acquisition of AI coding company Cursor as soon as next week. Cursor generates annualized revenue of about $2.6 billion from its enterprise business. The product Sand may be rebranded as Grok Bot. Existing products, including the Cursor programming assistant, will remain unchanged. The deal values Cursor’s developer interaction data for training Grok. The companies have already collaborated, jointly launching Grok 4.5 and giving Cursor users model-switching capability. After closing, Cursor will not operate independently; its staff will be integrated into SpaceX teams. Cursor is also expanding into general-purpose agents and plans to launch Cursor Origin to rival GitHub.

SpaceX's $60 billion acquisition of AI coding company Cursor is nearing closing.

Existing products will remain unchanged for now, including the Cursor programming assistant familiar to developers. According to company data disclosed by Cursor, its enterprise business annualized revenue is about $2.6 billion. In the merger filing, SpaceX also listed another value: the programming requests and design choices left by developers when using Cursor can be used to train and improve Grok.

The two companies have already begun cooperation. In April 2026, Cursor announced a partnership with SpaceX to train models and access SpaceXAI's computing infrastructure. Last month, the two sides jointly launched Grok 4.5. Cursor also recently launched a model selection feature, allowing users to switch between Grok, its self-developed Composer, and Anthropic models.

After closing, Cursor will not operate as an independent division within SpaceXAI; employees will be dispersed into multiple existing teams and will be connected to SpaceX's Slack, reporting lines, and internal operating systems within days. These adjustments will begin after the transaction is formally completed. Cursor is also expanding its product line from programming to general-purpose agents and plans to launch Cursor Origin, which will compete with GitHub.
