The company reported that subscribers exceeded 300 million for the first time in its second-quarter earnings, with monthly active users reaching 777 million.

Spotify announced on Monday the launch of its playlist annotations feature, which allows users to add personal thoughts to songs, podcasts, and audiobooks within a playlist. The feature builds on the user notes capability introduced last month, which supported notes on individual tracks.

Spotify editors can also add annotations explaining why certain songs were selected, initially available on select playlists such as Today's Top Hits, RapCaviar, Hot Country, All New Pop, and Fresh Finds Hip-Hop. The platform also introduced an editor profile feature, which showcases the tracks and albums editors frequently listen to. The user-generated annotation feature is rolling out gradually to iOS and Android devices in more than 100 markets. Editor annotations and editor profiles are first being made available to free and Premium subscribers aged 16 and above in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.

In its recently released second-quarter earnings, the company announced that its subscriber count surpassed 300 million for the first time, while total monthly active users reached 777 million.
