Spotify to Add 'AI Persona' Label for AI-Generated Singers in September 2026

Online music streaming platform Spotify has announced that it will introduce a label called "AI Persona" for artificial intelligence-generated virtual singers. The new label is scheduled to launch on the platform in mid-September 2026.

According to the policy released by Spotify, in addition to artist self-declaration, the platform will also review accounts and proactively add the label to artist profiles whose publicly displayed names and avatars exhibit "hyper-realistic AI-generated characteristics."

The label will appear on the top banner of the artist's homepage, in the artist biography, in search results, and on individual track rows within playlists. Users can click the label to see whether it was added based on the artist's own declaration or the platform's determination. Artists who disagree with the label may file an appeal. The platform also plans to launch an AI account reporting function for general users in the coming months.

Spotify said the label focuses on an artist's "public image" rather than "music production methods," and it has committed to continuously improving the management of AI content, aiming to combat spam and low-quality works.
