Toyota to Halt Some Tahara Plant Lines from August 17-31 for Construction
Toyota Motor announced on August 4 that some production lines at its Tahara Plant in Tahara City, Aichi Prefecture, will cease operations from August 17 to 31 due to construction work. The stoppage is unrelated to the Kumamoto earthquake. The Tahara Plant had previously announced that production would stop from August 3 to 7 due to the impact of the Kumamoto earthquake, and from August 8 to 16 due to the summer holiday break. Toyota also noted that construction factors had already been incorporated into the original plan for the August 3-7 stoppage, and the overlap of the earthquake impact with the construction schedule led to the halt during that period.
Toyota also announced that, due to the Kumamoto earthquake, three factories under Toyota Motor Kyushu in Fukuoka Prefecture will halt production until August 5.
