Trip.com Lists 2027 Virgin Galactic Seats From RMB 5.1 Million

An online travel platform has listed 2027 Virgin Galactic space travel tickets at a reference price starting from RMB 5.1 million per person. The product's base price is USD 750,000, with the RMB price fluctuating according to the exchange rate at the time of payment. The product page initially showed 681 units sold, which was later changed to 2. The platform explained that 681 is Virgin Galactic's total global order count, while 2 is the number of bookings the platform has received. Customers placing orders now will not travel with earlier bookers, as the latter booked at an earlier date.

A USD 150,000 deposit is required to book the product, and the deposit is non-refundable if the trip is cancelled. The platform calls back after screening customers. The trip lasts six days and departs from Las Cruces, New Mexico, in the United States. Participants must arrange their own flights to the United States; visa fees, airfare, and insurance are not included in the RMB 5.1 million quote. After arrival, there are four days of study and training, with the official launch on the fifth day.

Seats for VSS Unity from 2024 to 2026 have been sold, and seats on the new-generation Delta spacecraft are now open for 2027. Virgin Galactic's previous-generation VSS Unity completed its final commercial flight in June 2024 and was retired, with the company shifting its focus to the research, development, and manufacturing of the new-generation Delta-series spacecraft. It had originally planned to restart commercial flights by the end of 2026. On August 12, 2026, during the second-quarter 2026 earnings call, Virgin Galactic's chief executive said the first commercial flight of the new-generation Delta-class suborbital spaceplane would be delayed to February 2027, attributing the extended schedule to hundreds of relatively small but important installation tasks encountered during spacecraft assembly.

Customer types include group clients such as expeditions, research missions, and corporate charters. Virgin Galactic was founded in 2004 by British entrepreneur Richard Branson. In 2018, VSS Unity successfully completed a space test flight, and in 2021 Branson flew on the spacecraft for a suborbital flight. From 2023, Unity officially began commercial flights. Celebrities including Leonardo DiCaprio, Justin Bieber, and Lady Gaga booked seats in earlier years but did not fly. The space travel tickets use multi-round tiered pricing: early tickets were priced at USD 200,000 to USD 250,000, raised to USD 450,000 after 2021, and a new batch of seats in 2026 is priced at USD 750,000.
