The US International Trade Commission (ITC) voted on August 28 to institute a 337 investigation into certain mobile devices equipped with hardware and software for exchanging electronic content. The probe stems from a complaint filed on July 28, 2026, by US-based GG Technologies, operating under the name StayTouch, which alleges that the importation, sale for importation, and sale within the United States of such products infringe US Patent No. 12,022,369, thereby violating Section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930. The complainant requests that the ITC issue a limited exclusion order and a cease and desist order. The named respondent is Apple Inc. , based in the United States.
Under the procedural rules, the ITC will set a target date for completing the investigation within 45 days of institution. Unless the US Trade Representative disapproves the remedy on policy grounds, any remedial order issued in the 337 case becomes effective upon issuance and final on the 60th day after the date of issuance.
