Valve Set to Launch Steam Frame VR Headset, Final Planned Hardware Product

Valve is preparing to launch its next virtual reality headset, Steam Frame, the final product among the three hardware devices the company has planned, following the Steam Controller and Steam Machine. The developer of the action shooting game Gunman Contracts - Stand Alone said in its official community that the Steam Frame's release date is now imminent. The developer added that it has decided to launch the game simultaneously with Steam Frame, but cannot disclose a specific date because Valve has yet to publish any official information.

Valve previously confirmed that Steam Frame will reach the market in summer 2026.

In addition, a dedicated startup animation for Steam Frame was recently discovered in the Steam client beta, and the new SteamOS has added adapter support for the device's wireless connectivity. As of now, Valve has still not announced a specific price or an official release date for Steam Frame. Preliminary work covering software adaptation, content preparation and hardware certification has largely been completed.
