Verizon, Corning Sign Multibillion-Dollar Fiber Deal for 80 Million Miles

Verizon has signed a multibillion-dollar long-term purchase agreement with Corning for over 80 million miles of high-density fiber and related connectivity solutions, to be supplied between 2027 and 2032. The deal supports consumer broadband and converged services, as well as emerging AI computing infrastructure, including national long-haul backbone networks for major AI cloud providers.

Verizon and Corning have reached a long-term procurement agreement valued in the billions of dollars. Under the agreement, Corning will supply Verizon with more than 80 million miles of high-density fiber and associated connectivity solutions between 2027 and 2032. The deal is intended to support growth in consumer broadband and converged services, while also serving the build-out of infrastructure for emerging artificial intelligence computing.

The fiber deployment will address both residential and business broadband expansion, and will establish national long-haul backbone optical networks required by major AI cloud providers. The related network construction will deliver integrated mobile and broadband services to users, while building high-capacity, low-latency AI backbone infrastructure.
