A 2026 reader survey on graphics card usage shows that the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT became the most popular single model with a 25.85% share, setting a new record for the highest percentage ever achieved by a single graphics card in this survey. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 slipped to second place with 12.44%, while the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 accounted for 7.56% and 6.34%, respectively. The AMD RX 7900 XTX took 5.61%, and all other options combined for 15.13%.

The survey has been running for more than a decade. In 2016, NVIDIA held overwhelming dominance, with the GTX 1070 leading at 10.98%, the GTX 980 Ti at 9.96%, and the GTX 1080 and GTX 970 following. AMD's most popular card, the Radeon R9 290, managed only 4.68%, while other options accounted for 24.63%.

By 2019, the GTX 1080 Ti rose to the top with 11.29%, with the GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 at 9.15% and 9.00%, respectively. The RTX 2080 Ti and RTX 2080 entered the upper ranks for the first time, while AMD's Radeon RX Vega 56 and Vega 64 together held less than 10%.

In 2023, the RTX 4090 became the most popular model at 16.39%, with the AMD RX 7900 XTX at 6.58% and the RX 6900 XT, RX 6800 XT, and RTX 4080 each at 5.98%. The share of other options rose to 27.39%, a record high at the time.

In 2026, the RX 9070 XT's 25.85% share represents the highest percentage ever recorded for a single graphics card in the survey. Another hardware survey indicated that 16GB VRAM cards had become the largest single category, but that survey's users predominantly used mid-range models, whereas this survey's users concentrated on high-end products.
