China's First-Half 2026 Ad Revenue Exceeds RMB 1 Trillion; Internet Ads Account for 86%

Leading Chinese advertising enterprises generated RMB 1,037.38 billion in revenue in the first half of 2026, up 11.3% year on year. Internet advertising publishing revenue reached RMB 612.1 billion, up 25.3%, representing 86% of total advertising publishing revenue. Television and newspaper advertising revenue rose 3.4% and 12.6% respectively, while cinema advertising grew several-fold. Six provinces and municipalities including Beijing, Shanghai and Guangdong accounted for 81.3% of national advertising revenue, up 0.5 percentage points from a year earlier.

In the first half of 2026, leading enterprises and institutions engaged in advertising business nationwide generated combined revenue of RMB 1,037.38 billion, up 11.3% year on year. Among this, internet advertising publishing revenue reached RMB 612.1 billion, up 25.3% year on year, representing 86% of total advertising publishing revenue. Advertising publishing revenue from television and newspapers stood at RMB 19.88 billion and RMB 1.22 billion respectively, up 3.4% and 12.6% year on year. Cinema advertising publishing revenue achieved several-fold growth.

By region, the six provinces and municipalities of Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Fujian together generated advertising business revenue of RMB 843.21 billion, up 12% year on year, accounting for 81.3% of the national total, an increase of 0.5 percentage points compared with the same period in 2025.
