China Construction Eighth Bureau Deploys 25 Plants, Robot System Saves 60% of Labor

China's urbanization has moved past the stage of rapid expansion and entered a new phase of high-quality development, with urban renewal becoming the primary task of the existing-stock era. As intelligent construction advances in tandem with building industrialization, the construction engineering industry is transforming from a traditional sector into a modern industrial one, offering systematic solutions to the challenges of urban renewal.

The third session of Shanghai's 2026 housing and construction technology exchange event was held recently. Qi Ligang, chief engineer of China Construction Eighth Engineering Bureau Co. , Ltd. , said the company is exploring a dual "factory plus on-site" industrialization path for intelligent construction, having established 25 industrialized construction plants nationwide and iteratively upgraded its automated intelligent production lines. Its self-developed Tianchen construction robot system has been deployed at multiple projects, saving 60 percent of labor and effectively improving overall construction efficiency.

Integrated buildings adopt modular construction technology, providing a viable implementation path for urban renewal. These practices demonstrate concrete progress in the construction industry's industrialization and intelligentization drive.
