China Motorcycle Chamber: July Fuel Motorcycle Output and Sales Up Over 18%; Electric Models Fall Over 20%

In July, the industry's fuel motorcycle production and sales reached 1.9384 million and 1.8996 million units respectively, up 5.13% and 2.97% month-on-month, and up 22.32% and 18.85% year-on-year, representing growth of over 18% from a year earlier. For electric motorcycles, according to incomplete statistics, production and sales were 331,100 and 321,200 units, down 21.21% and 20.87% month-on-month, but up 10.37% and 9.5% year-on-year.

Total motorcycle production and sales for the industry were 2.2696 million and 2.2208 million units, with production up 0.24% month-on-month and sales down 1.33%, while year-on-year growth was 20.42% and 17.4% respectively. In domestic sales, motorcycles sold 801,200 units, down 8.15% month-on-month and up 7.6% year-on-year; among these, fuel motorcycle domestic sales were 484,900 units, up 0.79% month-on-month and up 6.03% year-on-year.

By vehicle type, two-wheeled motorcycle production and sales were 2.0373 million and 1.9909 million units, with production up 0.18% month-on-month and sales down 1.29%, and year-on-year growth of 22.83% and 19.4%. For motorcycles with displacement above 250ml (excluding), production and sales were 104,900 and 100,900 units, down 5.41% and 11.02% month-on-month, and up 15.14% and 14.27% year-on-year.

Three-wheeled motorcycle production and sales were 232,300 and 230,000 units, with production up 0.74% month-on-month and sales down 1.66%, and year-on-year growth of 2.76% and 2.56%.
