China Plans Advanced Storage Push Under New Electronics Manufacturing Blueprint
China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the National Development and Reform Commission have issued a development plan for the electronic information manufacturing sector. The plan calls for accelerating advanced storage capacity, improving distributed and hyper-converged storage systems, and advancing a tiered data storage architecture. It also targets breakthroughs in intelligent tiered storage and related technologies, and the development of high-bandwidth flash, high-bandwidth memory, ferroelectric, resistive, and magnetoelectric memory products.
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the National Development and Reform Commission have issued the Development Plan for the Electronic Information Manufacturing Industry during the 15th Five-Year Plan period.
The plan calls for accelerating the development of advanced storage capacity, promoting the use of storage to strengthen and substitute for computing, raising the technical level of distributed and hyper-converged storage systems, and improving tiered and layered data storage architectures and storage protocols.
The plan also calls for breakthroughs in intelligent tiered storage, data sparsification optimization, key-value caching and other technologies, and for the development of new storage products including high-bandwidth flash, high-bandwidth memory, ferroelectric memory, resistive memory and magnetoelectric memory.
