China Telecom Revenue Falls 2.1% to RMB1.02 Trillion in First Seven Months of 2026

China's telecom industry revenue totaled RMB1.02 trillion in the first seven months of 2026, down 2.1% year on year, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Telecom business volume, measured at 2025 constant prices, rose 7.7%. The country had 5.154 million 5G base stations by end-July, up 316,000 from end-2025, accounting for 39.4% of all mobile base stations.

Data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology showed that in the first seven months of 2026, cumulative telecom business revenue reached RMB1.02 trillion, a year-on-year decrease of 2.1%. Telecom business volume, calculated at 2025 constant prices, increased by 7.7% year on year.

5G network construction progressed steadily. As of the end of July, the total number of 5G base stations reached 5.154 million, a net increase of 316,000 from the end of 2025, accounting for 39.4% of all mobile base stations. This share was 0.3 percentage points higher than at the end of the first half of the year.
