China's Machinery Industry Output Grows in Jan-Jul 2026, Robot Production Up 28.5%

From January to July 2026, China's machinery industry recorded rapid output growth, with value-added in all five major sub-sectors rising year on year. Industrial robot production surged 28.5% to 635,000 sets, while metal-cutting machine tools edged up 0.8% and power generator sets increased 2.8%.

From January to July 2026, China's machinery industry achieved relatively fast production growth. Value-added output in the five major sub-sectors covered by the industry all increased year on year: general equipment manufacturing rose 7.9%, special equipment manufacturing grew 8.8%, automobile manufacturing expanded 7.2%, electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing climbed 6.5%, and instrumentation manufacturing advanced 9.4%.

Among representative products, cumulative output of metal-cutting machine tools reached 510,000 units, up 0.8% year on year. Industrial robot output totaled 635,000 sets, a year-on-year increase of 28.5%. Power generator sets output amounted to 208.97 million kilowatts, up 2.8% from the same period last year.
