China's State Council Issues Plan to Accelerate Agricultural Modernization, Targeting RMB 103.9 Billion Smart

The 15th Five-Year Plan for Accelerating Agricultural and Rural Modernization, issued by the State Council, emphasizes the creation and application of advanced and appropriate agricultural machinery and equipment, and sets clear requirements for cultivating smart farm machinery manufacturers and building strong advanced manufacturing clusters in the agricultural equipment sector. China's smart farm machinery industry has made progress in market size, equipment application, and technology research and development. Industry estimates project that the market will reach RMB 103.9 billion by 2030.

In equipment application, intelligent coverage of agricultural production continues to rise. More than 3.5 million units of farm machinery have been equipped with BeiDou satellite navigation terminals, the number of agricultural drones in service has exceeded 300,000, and cumulative operating area has surpassed 3 billion mu-times. Smart equipment has been integrated into the entire chain of plowing, planting, management, and harvesting. In technology research and development, high-end equipment including the world's largest horsepower wheeled tractor and modular transforming agricultural robots has achieved domestic breakthroughs. The construction of smart farm machinery industrial clusters is advancing steadily, an industrial pattern led by leading enterprises with upstream and downstream coordination is taking shape at an accelerated pace, and unmanned smart farms have achieved large-scale implementation.

A gap remains between China's independent innovation capacity in smart farm machinery and advanced international levels, with shortcomings in some core components. The adoption of smart farm machinery faces obstacles including insufficient funding, inadequate technical capacity, and lagging infrastructure, and there is a relatively large shortage in the supply of specialized smart farm machinery talent.
