Global semiconductor revenue reaches record USD 425 billion in Q2 2026

Published: Updated: By 24TopNews Editorial Desk

The global semiconductor industry generated record revenue of USD 425 billion in the second quarter of 2026, up 31.4% from the previous quarter. First-half revenue totaled USD 752 billion. Growth was driven by enterprise artificial intelligence hardware, rising high-performance computing demand and sustained demand for high-bandwidth memory. Memory integrated circuits accounted for more than half of quarterly revenue, with DRAM, NAND and NOR products posting record results. Non-memory semiconductors rose 10% quarter on quarter, and microprocessor revenue increased 16%.

In the second quarter of 2026, global semiconductor industry revenue reached USD 425 billion, a record high, up 31.4% from the previous quarter. In the first half of 2026, cumulative global semiconductor industry revenue totaled USD 752 billion. Demand for enterprise-grade artificial intelligence hardware grew, companies continued to increase investment in artificial intelligence systems, demand for high-performance computing hardware rose, and demand for high-bandwidth memory (HBM) continued to climb.

From a historical perspective, since the first quarter of 2002, the global semiconductor industry has recorded 97 quarters, with quarter-on-quarter growth exceeding 10% occurring only 10 times. Since the third quarter of 2025, the industry has achieved double-digit growth for four consecutive quarters.

In the second quarter of 2026, memory integrated circuit revenue accounted for more than half of total global semiconductor revenue. Major memory chip products including DRAM, NAND and NOR all posted record quarterly results in the second quarter. Non-memory semiconductors grew 10% from the previous quarter, above the historical average seasonal increase of about 3%; microprocessor market revenue rose 16%, above the usual average growth level of about 1%. Wafer manufacturers and chip producers allocated more capacity to products for data centers and enterprise customers, rather than traditional consumer-grade hardware.
