KuaiKan Comics launches digital life system Livo beta, explores AI-driven story generation

The content industry is undergoing profound changes driven by AI technology. Over the past two years, the sector has continuously explored the potential of AI in generating comics and videos, and its effect on compressing production costs and timelines. Aspects such as visuals, storyboarding, and dubbing have been integrated into AI workflows, and AI-generated comic dramas and live-action short dramas are gaining public attention. From print media to mobile internet, different technological eras have spawned diverse mediums including novels, films, TV series, and short-form videos.

In early 2026, Chinese comic platform KuaiKan Comics announced its exploration of content formats for the AI era. Its standalone app Livo, defined as a digital life system, entered beta testing. Within Livo, characters are endowed with established personalities, motivations, and behavioral boundaries, while AI can generate new stories within those set parameters.

On the product technology front, Livo must ensure consistency in virtual characters’ personalities during long-term interactions. The system includes confirmation of character core traits, distinguishing between stable personalities and changeable emotional memories, offering events and situations, and recording reasons for character changes. KuaiKan emphasized that creators remain responsible for shaping characters’ experiences, traits, and emotional boundaries, determining story quality. AI handles real-time changes within the set range, forming a creative model of “designing life. ” In terms of business model, AI digital life integrates characters’ growth potential, world operational capabilities, and user relationship accumulation into IP value, replacing the traditional asset recognition based on individual works.

KuaiKan’s exploration of digital life stems from long-term content accumulation and technological iteration. The platform has amassed over 13,000 original comic works, forming a complete IP ecosystem. Since 2014, KuaiKan has led in adapting scroll comics to phone screens. It began applying AI technology in 2019, proposed the concept of “comic dramas” in 2021, established an AIGC division in 2023, explored a vertical model for the anime niche in 2024, and launched AI interactive comics in 2025. The company’s vision has evolved into becoming the “Disney of the AI era,” aiming to continue the strategy of creating new content experiences in each technological revolution through the exploration of digital life. Currently, Livo remains in beta testing, and key issues such as character consistency and credibility of world events will determine whether digital life can become a stable content format.
