Microsoft Confirms Restoration of Classic Windows 11 Features After User Criticism

Microsoft has confirmed that it will reintroduce several classic personalization and taskbar options that were previously removed, in upcoming Windows 11 feature updates. Since the launch of Windows 11, the system introduced the Fluent design language, a centered taskbar, and rounded corner visuals, but some practical features were dropped, including taskbar size and position adjustments, classic right-click context options, tab merging logic, and certain system behavior toggles. These changes drew significant dissatisfaction from Windows 10 users and became a reason for some users to decline upgrading.

In communications, Microsoft technical representatives acknowledged that the removal of some classic features was too abrupt, and the company has begun shifting development resources toward refining the core desktop experience. As part of the restoration plan, taskbar flexibility will be enhanced. In addition to the already-returned "never combine taskbar buttons and show labels" feature, Microsoft is advancing adaptation work for taskbar size fine-tuning options and exploring ways to allow users to customize taskbar docking edges and pop-up logic. The classic Start menu folder categorization and arrangement logic, small icon mode, and certain advanced system adjustment toggles that were lost during the migration from the legacy Control Panel to the Settings app will also be gradually reintroduced in a modernized form.
