MSI, ASUS, Gigabyte Raise Graphics Card Prices by Over 20% Amid DRAM Shortage
MSI, ASUS, Gigabyte and other graphics card makers have raised shipment prices across their lineups, with some models up more than 20% and popular models rising 20% to 40%. The increases stem from DRAM shortages and rising memory costs. The RTX 5080 rose by up to about RMB 2,100 (about US$300), the RTX 5070 Ti by up to about RMB 1,350 (about US$200), and RTX 5060 Ti 8GB and RTX 5060 cards each rose by about US$90 to US$100, with the RTX 5050 up by as much as US$80.
MSI, ASUS, Gigabyte and other graphics card manufacturers have fully raised shipment prices across their product lines, with some models seeing increases of more than 20%. MSI announced it would follow the price adjustments taken by ASUS and Gigabyte, raising shipment prices across its entire graphics card lineup, with some models seeing maximum increases exceeding 20%. The adjustment covers a wide range of models currently on sale, from NVIDIA's RTX 50 series to the RTX 30 series. The increases are mainly driven by DRAM shortages and continued price rises, with upstream cost pressure passing through to the brand level.
Before MSI's adjustment, ASUS, Gigabyte and other brands had already implemented synchronized price increases, with some popular models rising in the 20% to 40% range. Specifically, the RTX 5080 rose by up to about RMB 2,100 (about US$300), and the RTX 5070 Ti by up to about RMB 1,350 (about US$200). The RTX 5060 Ti 8GB version and the RTX 5060 each rose by about US$90 to US$100 per card, while the RTX 5050 rose by up to about US$80.
