Nvidia B200 Accelerator Cards Carry 58% Premium in Secondary Market
Nvidia's B200 accelerator cards are trading at a 58% premium over their residual value in the secondary market, as demand from hyperscale cloud providers, sovereign AI agencies and AI unicorns keeps Blackwell chips in short supply. B200 production relies on TSMC advanced process technology, CoWoS-L three-dimensional packaging and HBM3E high-bandwidth memory. Despite expanded capacity at foundries and packaging plants, delivery lead times for finished products have stretched to several quarters or more than a year, lifting resale floor prices for high-end computing nodes.
In traditional consumer electronics and enterprise IT hardware markets, chip value usually declines with wear and tear, the release of successor architectures and product replacement cycles. The B200, however, shows a positive premium in the secondary market.
Driven by demand for AI computing power from hyperscale cloud service providers, sovereign AI institutions and AI unicorns, Blackwell chips such as the B200 remain in short supply on the supply chain side. The B200 is based on a custom advanced process from TSMC and depends on the integration of TSMC's CoWoS-L and other three-dimensional packaging systems with HBM3E high-bandwidth memory. Although foundries and packaging plants have expanded production lines, actual delivery lead times for finished products have still been stretched to several quarters or even more than a year. This trading situation has pushed up the resale floor prices of high-end computing nodes such as the B200.
