NRTA Announces First Batch of 16 Micro-Drama Projects Under 'Five-One Batch' Plan

The National Radio and Television Administration (NRTA) recently collected submissions for the 'Premium Micro-Drama Creation and Communication Plan Five-One Batch Project' in three rounds. Following expert review, the first batch of proposed support projects includes 16 works. On July 28, 'The Year of the Rabbit: The Long March Side Story' was announced as part of the first batch, making it the only project selected from Chengdu.

'The Year of the Rabbit' is a representative original animation IP in China, long focused on modern Chinese history themes. It transforms revolutionary history, national defense technology, and patriotic sentiments into narratives easily accepted by young audiences. The animation is broadcast on six major platforms including Bilibili, Tencent Video, iQiyi, and Youku, attracting millions of fans nationwide and earning recognition as a 'Five Hundreds' network positive energy work. Currently, 'The Year of the Rabbit' has over 3.3 billion clicks online, with over 1.8 billion comic views and more than 125 billion Douyin topics.

2026 marks the 90th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army's Long March. 'The Year of the Rabbit: The Long March Side Story' retells the Long March story in animation, further deepening the series' revolutionary history theme. While presenting classic historical scenes such as the Xiang River, Dadu River, Snowy Mountains, Grasslands, and Lazikou, the work extends its lens to ideological army building, radio communications, underground transportation lines, and Red Army aviation, showcasing the crucial support behind the Long March's victory from a more multidimensional perspective.

In recent years, Chengdu has focused on six tracks: film and animation, gaming and esports, creative design, digital music, online literature, and digital cultural equipment. It has formed two trillion-level, two 500-billion-level, and two 100-billion-level industrial clusters. In 2025, the total revenue of Chengdu's digital creative core industry reached 413.97 billion yuan, up 8.3% year-on-year. In the animation and film sector, Chengdu has a complete industrial chain from creative planning, art production, animation rendering, to post-production distribution.
