The 2026 Fortune Global 500 list was released on July 28, featuring seven Chinese insurance companies, the same number as last year. The listed firms are China Life Insurance (Group) Company, Ping An Insurance (Group) Company of China, People's Insurance Company (Group) of China, China Pacific Insurance (Group) Company, Taikang Insurance Group, AIA Group, and New China Life Insurance Company.
Total revenue of all Fortune Global 500 companies this year reached approximately $43.1 trillion, exceeding one-third of global GDP and growing about 3.2% from the previous year. The entry threshold (minimum sales revenue) rose to $332 billion from $322 billion, an increase of 3%. Financial sector companies on the list posted total revenue of $9.7 trillion and profit of $1.12 trillion, both record highs.
Compared with the 2025 list, the roster of seven Chinese insurers remained unchanged. China Life Insurance (Group) ranked 42nd with revenue of $178.215 billion and net profit of $3.548 billion. Ping An Insurance ranked 48th, People's Insurance Company of China ranked 123rd, China Pacific Insurance ranked 248th, Taikang Insurance Group ranked 297th, AIA Group ranked 409th, and New China Life Insurance ranked 414th.
In terms of ranking changes, China Life Insurance (Group) was the highest-ranked Chinese insurer for the second consecutive year, moving up from 45th to 42nd. Ping An Insurance was listed for the 17th consecutive year, dropping one place to 48th but still ranking second among Chinese insurers. The remaining five insurers all improved their positions, with New China Life Insurance posting the largest gain, rising from 498th to 414th.
Globally, the insurance industry remains a significant component of the Fortune Global 500, with international groups such as AXA, Allianz, and Nippon Life Insurance also ranking near the top.
