In a 200-mu (about 13.3 hectares) plant area on Dongshahe Street, Tengzhou, Zaozhuang, Shandong, Tengzhou Xinwangda Renewable Resources Co. , Ltd. operates a retired lithium battery comprehensive utilisation production line with an annual processing capacity of 50,000 tonnes. The line integrates dismantling, remanufacturing, crushing and separation, and material regeneration, primarily handling power battery packs removed from new energy vehicles.
During the dismantling stage, battery packs are broken down into modules and then into cells, with a high degree of automation throughout. Industrial robots reduce manual labour in operation and handling by 80%, multiplying efficiency. The cells then enter a sealed crusher for coarse crushing, undergo oxygen-free pyrolysis in a thermal decomposition system, and pass through multi-stage air classification, magnetic separation, and screening, where copper, aluminium, and black powder are separated layer by layer. Production line data show that the black powder recovery rate exceeds 98.5%. One thousand tonnes of recycled battery material can reduce cell production costs by nearly RMB 10 million and cut energy consumption by about 7,000 tonnes of standard coal.
