Shanghai Issues Inland Waterway Plan: 280 km of Grade III Waterways and 35% Container Transshipment Ratio by

The General Office of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government issued the 'Implementation Plan for Shanghai to Build a High-quality Development Pilot Zone for Inland Waterway Shipping in the Yangtze River Delta and the Inland Waterway System Connectivity Project (2026-2030).' The plan proposes to strive to achieve 280 kilometers of Grade III and above waterways by 2030, and build a number of intensive public inland river port areas. The container river-sea direct channel of Shanghai Port will be expanded and upgraded, with the proportion of container waterway transshipment for domestic routes reaching 35%. The level of green and smart inland waterway shipping will be significantly improved, forming an integrated river-sea intermodal transport network, and waterway tourism passenger transport will achieve large-scale development.
