Shenzhen Stores Say HP, Lenovo, Asus to Raise PC Prices from Sept 1

Multiple computer brand stores in Shenzhen indicate that the back-to-school season has brought a wave of price increases, with brands such as HP, Lenovo, and Asus set to raise prices starting September 1, with the highest increase reaching 15%. HP plans to first adjust prices by 15% on August 28, followed by another increase on September 1, after cumulative rises of approximately 20% so far. Lenovo stores have received notices of the price hike and will adjust prices on schedule on September 1. Asus stores say products will rise by at least RMB 500 after September 1. Store staff attribute the main driver of this round of increases to rising upstream chip prices.

In this wave of price hikes, low-end models are the most affected, with some low-end models already rising from RMB 3,000 to RMB 6,000, while mid-to-high-end models see relatively moderate increases. Prices in the used computer market have also risen in tandem.
