Three Chinese Regulators Expand Green Building Materials Certification to 72 Products
The State Administration for Market Regulation, together with the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, will gradually include 72 products across six categories - building doors and windows, ready-mixed concrete, stone and others - in the green building materials certification scheme. Certification applies full lifecycle quality control from raw material extraction through production, distribution and recycling. As of end-June 2026, 5,725 enterprises held 11,094 valid certificates, generating nearly RMB 130 billion in revenue, up more than 10% year on year.
The State Administration for Market Regulation, together with the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, will gradually bring 72 products across six categories - including building doors and windows, ready-mixed concrete and stone - into the green building materials certification scope. The certification regime applies full lifecycle quality control covering raw material extraction, production and manufacturing, distribution and use, and recycling and disposal, strengthening the quality and safety defence line for building materials at the source and enhancing the green and low-carbon attributes of products.
As of end-June 2026, 5,725 enterprises nationwide had obtained green building materials certification, holding 11,094 valid certificates. The sector generated nearly RMB 130 billion in revenue, up more than 10% from the same period in 2025.
