WeChat Tests Feature to Detect and Bulk Delete One-Way Contacts
WeChat is testing a feature that helps users identify and delete one-way contacts when their friend list reaches the 10,000-person limit. The system displays five such contacts at a time with details like add method and last contact time, allowing batch deletion. Tencent confirmed the feature is in internal testing and has relayed user feedback to the product team.
WeChat's one-way contact detection feature recently trended on social media. Tencent customer service responded that when the contact list reaches its limit, a pop-up will appear showing some contact information to help users decide whether to delete certain contacts. Currently, WeChat does not support batch viewing of deleted contacts; users can only manually select contacts to delete based on the list in the pop-up. WeChat has not yet launched a dedicated feature for viewing one-way contacts, but related requests have been forwarded to the product team.
The WeChat contact limit is approximately 10,000. Once the limit is reached, users must delete some contacts before adding new ones. Official accounts and users on the blacklist also count toward the contact limit, and users can review and assess whether to delete them. There is no limit on the number of friend requests sent or received per day, but users should avoid a large number of operations in a short period to prevent triggering frequency restrictions.
