Xiaohongshu launched a special governance campaign against micro-dramas in June 2026, targeting eight problem areas including harmful child content, soft porn, money worship, distorted marriage views, feudal remnants, violent revenge, vulgar titles, and piracy. The platform has intercepted and removed over 3,000 pieces of violating information and handled 43 accounts. It will also penalize unlicensed micro-dramas with content removal, account restrictions, and bans, while allowing creators to re-publish after completing licensing procedures.
Since June 2026, the Xiaohongshu platform has carried out a special governance campaign against harmful, vulgar, and infringing micro-dramas, focusing on eight key issues found in some micro-dramas: content harmful to children, soft-porn innuendo, money worship and flaunting wealth, distorted views on marriage and relationships, feudal dross, violent revenge, vulgar titles, and copyright infringement and piracy. The campaign aims to regulate the creation and dissemination of micro-dramas. Since the campaign began, the platform, in accordance with relevant requirements for online audiovisual management and its community rules, has proactively intercepted and removed over 3,000 pieces of violating information and handled 43 accounts.
The platform's inspections have found that some micro-drama full episodes lack license numbers, approval document numbers, or program numbers, including self-produced micro-dramas by individuals and micro-dramas reposted or transferred from other platforms. In accordance with the relevant regulations for micro-drama industry management, the platform will take action against micro-dramas that have not completed review and licensing, as well as behaviors that use technical means to circumvent or resist management requirements. Measures include removing violating content, restricting account publishing and business functions, and banning related accounts. After creators complete the review and licensing process and label the corresponding certificate numbers as required, they may republish the relevant content.
