14 Wealth Management Firms' Assets Reach RMB27.4 Trillion at End-August

The 14 largest Chinese bank wealth management firms, including six state-owned and eight joint-stock bank units that account for about 80% of the market, held roughly RMB27.4 trillion in outstanding assets at the end of August 2026, a net inflow of more than RMB280 billion from July. In the first eight months of 2026, their assets rose by about RMB1.96 trillion.

As of the end of August 2026, the 14 wealth management companies with more than RMB1 trillion in assets under management—comprising six from state-owned banks and eight from joint-stock banks, together accounting for about 80% of the market—had outstanding assets of approximately RMB27.4 trillion, recording a net inflow of more than RMB280 billion from July. In August 2026, bank wealth management assets continued to set new highs, extending the deposit-return momentum seen in July.

At the end of June 2026, total outstanding assets across the market reached RMB33.66 trillion. Counting only the RMB1.46 trillion increase at the 14 wealth management companies in July and the RMB0.28 trillion increase in August, the total wealth management market reached about RMB35.4 trillion. In the first eight months of 2026, the outstanding assets of the 14 major wealth management companies rose by a net approximately RMB1.96 trillion. By product category, equity-inclusive products added about RMB1.98 trillion, non-cash pure bond products grew by about RMB176 billion from the start of the year, and cash products declined by more than RMB180 billion from the start of the year.
